Rachel Kay Shuttleworth

Welcome to the Lady Anne's Needlework Festival 2025, where this year we will celebrate the life and legacy of The Honourable Rachel Kay Shutttleworth (1886-1967) with our carefully curated schedule of live classes, lectures and films.

Rachel, a trailblazer in textile arts, founded the Gawthorpe Hall textile collection, transforming it into a vital educational resource. Her passion for textiles and her dedication to community service have left an indelible mark. Join us as we celebrate her contributions to preserving textile heritage and fostering creativity.

Film Screening: Rachel Kay Shuttleworth - Her Life & Legacy

Join us for the first official screening of our latest documentary centered on the life and legacy of Rachel Kay Shuttleworth. Latest V&A Embroidery Acquisitions with Silvija Banić

In this special presentation, textile historian and curator Silvija Banić will delve into the stories behind some of the most recent additions to the museum’s collection of European embroidery. In this second feature documentary on Rachel Kay Shuttleworth, we dive deeper into her collection with the Gawthorpe Hall textile curator Rachel Midgely. After we will be joined by Rachel Midgely for an opportunity to ask questions.

The founder of the The Crewel Work Company, Phillipa has over 30 years of experience as an embroidery tutor. She leads a fun and relaxed session packed with Crewel Work tips and tricks to get you feeling confident with your needle.
