In March, our New Talent Auburn Claire Lucas taught an experienced group of international embroiderers at the Spring Residential Retreat in The Lake District. You can read a full account of the Retreat here. Read on to see what Auburn got up to.
On the middle Wednesday, the group took a rest from classes with Jenny Adin-Christie and Nicola Jarvis and met Auburn to be taught her own version of an early 17th Century design of a Sweet Pea. The design was a simple motif and included a range of traditional stitches with interesting metal and silk thread combinations.
After her tuition session, Auburn benefited from constructive mentoring from Jenny, Nicola and Phillipa as part of our New Talent Programme with the Royal School of Needlework. You can read about the programme here.
Auburn is an exciting new talent in the world of hand embroidery and we plan to help her in every way we can as she grows as a tutor and professional embroiderer and we will certainly be booking Auburn for future retreats to teach and lecture about her passion for 18th Century costume.
