The Heart of the Community

Rachel Kay-Shuttleworth

‘Miss Rachel’ was the last Shuttleworth family resident of Gawthorpe Hall before it was gifted to the National Trust in 1972. She was committed to community service and had ambitions to open her home as a ‘Craft House’ based on textiles she had amassed during her lifetime.

Now at well over 30,000 items, The Gawthorpe Textile Collection is a registered charity under the guardianship of a board of trustees and team dedicated to fulfilling Rachel’s vision - to promote creativity and wellbeing, to preserve traditional crafts, and to share knowledge, skills and expertise across cultures.

We are thrilled to be collaborating with the GTC in reproducing designs from Rachel's collection and also look forward to our 2025 Lady Anne’s Festival when a film and five new designs will be released.
