The beauty of living in a rural town is our connection with nature and the seasons, which has been and continues to be a great inspiration for artists and designers.
As the magnificent trees start to see their leaves take on the golden glory of British autumn, the nation celebrates the wonderful apple. And the start of a new season is the perfect time to start a new needlework project, and what better design than our Elizabethan Oakapple?
Appleby-in-Westmorland will be the centre of the Lady Anne's Needlework Festival in July 2021, however, this month our traditional market town we will be enjoying an Apple Day Festival. Gardners can bring along their orchard harvest to have their apples pressed and food producers will be setting up their stalls along the main street and market square.
Historic gardens across Britain will be hosting special Apple Day events, and wherever you are in the world you can join in the autumn, harvest celebration with a festive design, our Elizabethan Oakapple design.
This beautiful, soft, faded design from an original crewel work bun stool top was replicated by Phillipa, after she spent time studying the original piece while it was been conserved at The Textile Restoration Studio in Manchester, England. The private owners kindly allowed Phillipa to use this design to create this kit.
To celebrate Apple Day we are offering 10% off the kit and starter set until this Sunday. Apply code APPLE2019 to the checkout page.
