Head of Education at the heritage bespoke embroidery atelier Hand & Lock, Lucy Martin will join us to share her insider stories about Hand & Lock’s rich history, their iconic work with the Royal Family and collaborations with top European fashion houses. 

Lucy will talk to us about the tradition of the Privy Councilor, the design and how this evolved for their latest commission for Penny Mordaunt worn during King Charles II coronation ceremony.

Lucy Martin

Trained at the Royal School of Needlework with a First Class Honours Degree in Hand Embroidery, Lucy Martin is a bespoke hand embroiderer based in London and has created artworks for a huge range of clients from fashion houses to royalty.

Lucy grew up in the idyllic countryside of the Peak District. She has been stitching as long as she can remember, from helping her mum make wedding dresses to now working on pieces for companies such as Alexander McQueen, Burberry and Jasper Conran. Lucy has also had the honour of working with some incredible clients including Beyonce, Brian May and the Royal Family. Her exceptional hand embroidery skills have won her a series of internationally acclaimed awards, and she is now responsible for the success and development of both the Hand & Lock School and its students.
